The Seattle Public Library co-hosts a monthly discussion group for seniors from noon to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7 at Southwest Branch, 9010 35th Ave. S.W., 206-684-7455.

This month's discussion topic is "How Can the News Media and Journalism be Improved?"

Hot Topics for Seniors is a place to discuss current national, state and local issues. The groups select topics, which may include issues such as education, health care, benefit programs, hospice, palliative care, immigration, gun control, transportation or housing.

This meeting is presented in partnership with Puget Sound Advocates for Retirement Action (PSARA).

Library events and programs are free and open to the public. Registration is not required. The Library's dynamic approach to building community that enriches lives includes programs that bring people, information and ideas together to respect and embrace the well-being of the people we serve.
