Author Readings & Community Dialogues Hosted By The Seattle Public Library In June

Attend author events, book discussions and community dialogues, expert conversations and literary programs from the comfort of your own living room this spring. The Seattle Public Library has a wide variety of online readings and discussions coming up in June, on topics from Japanese American history to the culture around sugar to Ernest Hemingway.
Library events are free and everyone is welcome. Registration is required for each event, please visit the Library's calendar to sign up.
READING & DISCUSSION SCHEDULE

11 a.m. to noon Tuesday, June 8 - Hemingway: Misogynistic or Misunderstood? Join KCTS 9 for a discussion about Ernest Hemingway, his relationships and writing through the female gaze.

6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 8 - Laurie Frankel and Marilyn Dahl discuss "One Two Three: A Novel." Join us for a conversation with local novelist Laurie Frankel, who will discuss her newest book, a timely, topical novel about love and family that will make you laugh and cry... and laugh again.

6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 10 - Words, Writers and Southwest Stories. Join local anthropologist Julia Harrison for a virtual presentation of "Sticky Subject: The History and Culture of Sugar.”
- 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 10 - It's About Time Writers' Reading Series. The Ballard Branch welcomes the 379th meeting of the It's About Time Writers' Reading Series, featuring author readings and open mics. This month’s online presentation will include Miriam Bassuk, Millie Renfrow and Madelle Quiring.
- 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 13 - Writers Read. Join us for a monthly reading series featuring an open mic and selected author readings from local writers.
- 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, June 14 - Frank Abe, Tamiko Nimura, Ross Ishikawa and Tom Ikeda discuss "We Hereby Refuse." Join us to celebrate the release of “We Hereby Refuse,” a graphic novel which honors three historic voices and their three acts of defiance in the face of one mass injustice.
- 10:30 a.m. to noon Thursday, June 17 - Age Friendly Seattle Virtual Civic Coffee Hour. Join us for a live, online conversation with city government leaders to celebrate Pride and learn how the City of Seattle supports the LGBTQ community.
- 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 17 - Grow[ing] Up: A Literary Series About Growing Pains. Join us for the fourth in a five-part series of events, curated by local writer D.A. Navoti, which examines the highs and lows of growing up.
- 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 22 - Mortada Gzar discusses "I'm in Seattle, Where are You?" Join us for a discussion of Gzar’s new memoir, a moving tale of love and resilience from this award-winning Iraqi writer.
