The Seattle Public Library will no longer offer access to Freegal Music service in 2024.
Freegal Music access no longer available
Due to high costs and a low number of patrons making use of the service, we will no longer offer access to Freegal Music service in 2024. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause to Freegal users.
The Library continues to offer access to our PlayBack music collection, with music from over 200 local artists, as well as Hoopla Music, which has nearly 400,000 albums available to borrow. The Hoopla service also offers access to free movies, TV shows and comics, and it allows up to 15 borrowed titles per month.
For patrons who previously downloaded songs from Freegal, those music files should still be available on the personal devices to which they were downloaded. Funds previously used for the Freegal Music service will be redirected to purchase books for the Library’s collections, including more digital and print materials.
