We are here to help with our free programs and services. Whether you need help preparing your taxes, starting a business or applying to college, we have experts here to guide you. We can also help if you want to become a United States citizen or learn English. You do not need a Library card to use most of our services. What services do you provide for business owners and managers?
Our Business & Nonprofit program can help you plan, launch and run your business. We can help you research your market, find a funding source, apply for licenses and more. We also offer some of our business workshops in Spanish.
Can you help me with my job search?
Yes. Our Library staff can assist you with job and career questions. You can also get Virtual Tutoring from Tutor.com for help with job applications, cover letters and resumes. We have a variety of online Job Resources you can access for free.
Can you help me with my taxes?
We offer free Tax Help in partnership with United Way of King County and AARP. During tax season, tax forms are available at the Central Library and many branches. Visit our Tax Help page to find resources and assistance completing your taxes.
Can you help me learn about my ancestry?
We have one of the largest collections of genealogy resources in the state at the Central Library. You can make an appointment with one of our genealogy librarians, or explore on your own. You can access Ancestry Library Edition, America’s GenealogyBank and other online resources for free with your Library card.
Can you help my kids succeed in school?
Our Student Success programs help kids K-12 succeed in school and prepare for college. Whether your kids need help with homework, math and reading skills, or filling out a college or job application, live Virtual Tutoring at Tutor.com can help. Seattle Public Schools students can access Tutor.com and other online resources without a Library card through Library Link.
Can you help me prepare for college?
Live tutors from Tutor.com can help you fill out your college applications, write winning essays or prepare for tests. We also have free remote learning resources for high school students.
Can you help me improve my English or learn a new language?
If you are learning English, you can take free English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes. Join an English Circle session to practice English conversation in an informal setting. We also have online tools to help you learn any language.
Can you help me become a citizen of the United States?
Yes. We offer free assistance:
- Free citizenship classes help you prepare for civics exams.
- Citizenship books, CDs and DVDs in English and other languages help you prepare for exams.
