Ready to Work is a class for adult ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) students who want to improve their English and job skills, and who are currently looking for a job. Low-income adults who live in Seattle and are eligible to work can register for this class.
Four classes offered throughout the community serve students at ESOL levels 1-4. Participants work on the skills needed to get a job (online applications, interviews) or expand their job opportunities, while improving their English and digital skills. This 12-hour per week class is supported by case managers who assist with job placements. Classes are currently being held online via Zoom, and offer the use of a Chromebook to be able to access learning. All classes meet on Zoom four days per week (Monday through Thursday) from 10 a.m. to noon, with additional online/remote work by students required.
Ready to Work is funded by the City of Seattle and offered in partnership with Asian Counseling and Referral Services (ACRS), Literacy Source, Neighborhood House, Somali Community Services, and HomeSite.
