Most entrepreneurs put together a business plan which communicates your roadmap to viability to investors, employees, and partners. We offer sample plans as well as resources to find your market data that will help you make decisions and back up your plan details with market data. Most can be used from home with your Seattle Public Library card and PIN number.
To help you get more familiar with different business concepts our business librarians have created lists of resources on specific topics like planning and funding your business. We also have collections of podcasts, business magazines, and more.

Business Resource Open House Programs
Come to an open house at a library location and connect face-to-face with a range of organizations that will help you make your business idea a reality. You’ll find financial help, counseling on the viability of a business idea, and advice on next steps.
Food Biz Roadshow
People starting restaurants, food trucks, food carts and food product businesses have opportunity to meet the different government agencies who process and issue your permits and licenses. You’ll not only discover the list of regulators you need to talk to, this event gives you an opportunity to meet them in person and strike up a conversation. Other food specific assistance organizations will also be on hand.
Your Business – Start Smart
This workshop is offered quarterly at different branch library locations in 2018. You’ll hear an expert business coach talk about all the different elements you need to think about as you set up your business. Questions are encouraged and this is a great way to make sure you have everything covered and connections to the people and organizations that will help you succeed.
Beyond Google: Free Market Research at Your Library
This workshop walks you through how to research a market with library tools. You’ll find out how to easily navigate databases available through your Library to help you make informed decisions in your business planning, marketing, site location and market analysis.
