‘ZAPP’ Yourself to The Seattle Public Library This Weekend for a Virtual Zine Collection Tour

See highlights from The Seattle Public Library’s Zine Archive & Publishing Project (ZAPP) in a virtual visit as part of Seattle Art Book Fair's Makeready festival. The tour will take place online from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 15.
All Library events are free and everyone is welcome. Registration is required; visit the Library’s calendar to sign up.
Librarians at the Central Library will give a brief overview of the collection's history and show highlights, with a focus on zines created in the Seattle area that use unusual printing and binding techniques. The presentation will be followed by a short Q&A session.
ABOUT ZAPP
ZAPP is dedicated to preserving and promoting self-publishing in Seattle and beyond. The collection contains more than 30,000 zines, minicomics and other self-published and small press titles, which were donated by Richard Hugo House. As ZAPP is only available for viewing at the Central Library, this is the first time since March 2020 that these titles have been on display. ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
Makeready is a free virtual event featuring over 35 artists, designers, printers and publishers in a series of online conversations, studio visits and workshops that explore the process of making an art book from start to finish. Makeready speakers will share a wide variety of work — from personal zines to one-of-a-kind artists’ books, and from trade art / literary books to contemporary art editions.
