Do you feel adrift in the sea of new technologies? Join us for a talk on "Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality," the first presentation in the Library's new program series Emerging Technology 101, from 6 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28 at the Central Library, 1000 Fourth Ave., Level 4, Washington Mutual Foundation Meeting Room 1, 206-386-4636.

Library events are free and everyone is welcome. Registration is not required. Parking is available in the Central Library's garage for $7 after 5 p.m.

Learn about virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR), and experience a VR demonstration from local expert Xuny Haley. You'll find out why this technology is important, and hear about real life applications for VR and AR besides video games.

Haley is a manager at the University of Washington's CoMotion Labs, a startup incubator that is home to entrepreneurs, innovators and artists. CoMotion Labs hosts high-tech startups that including mixed reality, robotics and emerging technologies.
