Thrilling Tales, Noon and Night: Stories at The Seattle Public Library

Need a break from the mundane? The Seattle Public Library offers "Thrilling Tales: A Story Time for Grown Ups" where you can laugh, gasp and shudder to live readings at noon and 7 p.m. on select Mondays of the month at the Central Library, 1000 Fourth Ave., Level 1, Microsoft Auditorium, 206-386-4636.
Library programs are free and open to the public. Registration is not required. Parking is available in the Central Library garage at the regular rates. Brown bag lunches and knitting are welcome.
December's stories will include:
- 12:05 p.m. to 12:50 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3 – "A Christmas Memory" by Truman Capote. "Oh my - It’s fruitcake weather!" Capote’s moving recollection is a holiday story like no other.
- 12:05 p.m. to 12:50 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17 – "Land of the Blind" by Craig Johnson. Have a Merry Hostage Negotiation, and a Happy New Year. Also, "The Markhampton Miracle" by Cyril Hare.
- 7 p.m. to 7:55 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17 – "Back for Christmas" by John Collier. Homicide: the gift that keeps on giving. Also, "Crime’s Christmas Carol," by Novell Page. In the depths of the Depression, a desperate couple seek a little Holiday cheer.
