The Seattle Public Library has added a Getting Started section in Simplified Chinese on its website at www.spl.org/ZH to make it easier for Chinese-language patrons to find and use Library resources and services.

The Getting Started section includes information in Simplified Chinese on signing up for a Library card (including a Library card application in Chinese); using in-person services at Library branches; accessing programs and services for children; finding business resources; improving your skills; and how to use online Library resources.

You can also see a short video on Getting Started with a Library card in Mandarin, with captions in Simplified Chinese.

Other Chinese-language resources at the Library include:

The Library’s Your Next Job service offers free one-on-one help with job and unemployment questions online or by phone. The service is available in Chinese, as well as nine other languages. Book an appointment and find out more at www.spl.org/YourNextJob-zh.

Virtual Mandarin story time. More than 25 story time videos on our Kid’s YouTube channel bring stories, rhymes, songs and activities to your young readers.

Kaleidoscope Play & Learn videos are available in Mandarin and Cantonese, as well as in Japanese, Russian and Vietnamese. They are presented in partnership with the Chinese Information and Service Center.

The Library offers similar resources in Vietnamese, including a Getting Started section (www.spl.org/VI) and Library card application (www.spl.org/Card-vi); and in Spanish, including a Getting Started section (www.spl.org/ES) and Library card application (www.spl.org/Tarjeta).
You can also find our “Getting Started With a Library Card” video in 10 languages on the YouTube playlist at post.spl.org/GetStartedVideos.
