The Seattle Public Library invites teachers, tutors and volunteers to learn techniques and activities for teaching English language learners from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 24 at the Central Library, 1000 Fourth Ave., Level 4, Washington Mutual Foundation Meeting Room 1, 206-386-4636

Library events are free and open to the public. Online registration is required. Parking is available in the Central Library garage for $7.

Instructor Alysan Croydon will show attendees how to plan lessons and assess what students know. She will also give tips on how to be culturally sensitive and to differentiate instruction for various levels.

Croydon has been an English language teacher and teacher educator for over 30 years and has trained volunteers to teach English language learners throughout the state. She is currently a board member of the Literacy Council of Seattle and a faculty member at the School for Teaching ESL in cooperation with Seattle Pacific University.
