Learn how to search for affordable and low-income housing and protect your rights as a tenant from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 22 at the Lake City Branch, 12501 28th Ave. N.E., 206-684-7518.

Library events and programs are free and everyone is welcome. Registration is not required. Free parking is available in the underground garage.

Workshop topics will include:

  • how to look for housing
  • tips on navigating Craigslist
  • where to search besides Craigslist
  • how to handle barriers to housing (e.g. an eviction record, criminal history or low credit score)
  • tenant screening
  • tenant rights and responsibilities to protect yourself from eviction
    subsidized housing
  • how 2-1-1 can help

The workshop will be taught by a tenant counselor from Solid Ground. Solid Ground is an anti-poverty and social service nonprofit. The organization helps families keep or obtain housing while supporting them to overcome poverty and thrive.
