'Queen of Katwe': Book-to-Film Screening at the Magnolia Branch March 19

The Seattle Public Library will host an afternoon showing of "Queen of Katwe," the story of a young girl's dream of becoming a chess grandmaster from 2 p.m. to 4:05 p.m. Sunday, March 19 at the Magnolia Branch, 2801 34th Ave. W., 206-386-4225.
Library events are free and everyone is welcome. Registration is not required. Free parking is available in the branch parking lot. Doors will open at 1:45 p.m. and popcorn will be provided.
The film is based on the true story of a young girl from the streets of rural Uganda, whose world rapidly changes when she is introduced to the game of chess. As a result of the support she receives from her family and community, she is instilled with the confidence and determination she needs to pursue her dream of becoming an international chess champion.
