Save the Music With Help From the Library: Music Memory Digitization Lab at KEXP July 28

Grab your box of tapes, rifle through your VHS collection, dig into those concert photos and unroll your band posters! The Library is popping up to help you preserve your music memories with a digitization lab from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 28 at the KEXP Gathering Space, 472 First Ave. N.
Library events are free and everyone is welcome. Registration is required. Please note that this event is focused on digitizing music-related memories.
"With this lab, we’re helping Seattle capture and preserve the city’s music history," said Valerie Wonder, community engagement manager at the Library.
At this event, archivists and librarians will assist you in creating digital copies of recordings from video, audio, photos and small posters. You'll also receive a zine with best practices for preserving your music memories in the future. Once everything is digitized, you'll receive a thumb drive with your new digital copies.
After your music memories are digitized, you will remain the owner of them. A waiver will be available if you would like to provide a copy to event partners.
There will also be spots available in the KEXP recording booths for a short recording session where you can tell us the stories behind your materials.
This event is presented in partnership with KEXP, Moving Image Preservation of Puget Sound, Washington State University Libraries and the UW Ethnomusicology Archives.
