Author Readings at The Seattle Public Library in April

The Seattle Public Library will feature writers and their work at several Library locations in April. Event details with times and locations are outlined below.
Anthony Ray Hinton – 7 p.m. to 8:10 p.m. Wednesday, April 4 at the Central Library, 1000 Fourth Ave., Level 1, Microsoft Auditorium, 206-386-4636. Hinton talks about his new memoir, "The Sun Does Shine," a story of hope, love, justice, and the power of reading by a man who spent 30 years on death row for a crime he didn't commit.
Leslie Jamison – 7 p.m. to 8:10 p.m. Tuesday, April 10 at the Central Library, 1000 Fourth Ave., Level 1, Microsoft Auditorium, 206-386-4636. New York Times best-selling author Jamison discusses her new book "The Recovering" with local author Claire Dederer. They will talk about the stories we tell about addiction, and examine what we want these stories to do—and what happens when they fail us.
Peter Stekel – 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 12 at the Southwest Branch, 9010 35th Ave. S.W., 206-684-7455. Local author Stekel reads from his newest work, "Beneath Haunted Waters: The Tragic Tale of Two B-24s Lost in the Sierra Nevada Mountains During Word War II." This program is part of the Words, Writers and West Seattle author series, which features writers connected to the Duwamish Peninsula. Presented in partnership with the Southwest Historical Society.
Janet Buttenwieser – 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 19 at the Rainier Beach Branch, 9125 Rainier Ave. S., 206-386-1906. Local author Buttenwieser will read from her new memoir, "Guts," and discuss her journey navigating misdiagnosis, multiple surgeries and life with a permanent colostomy.
Ellen Forney – 7 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. Monday, April 30 at the Central Library, 1000 Fourth Ave., Level 1, Microsoft Auditorium, 206-386-4636. Local cartoonist Forney discusses her new survival guide for people with bipolar disorders, "Rock Steady: Brilliant Advice from My Bipolar Life." It's the sequel to Forney’s 2012 best-selling graphic memoir, "Marbles: Mania, Depression, Michelangelo, and Me."
