Free Virtual Tutoring for Seattle Students Now Offered by The Seattle Public Library

With remote schooling in full swing, The Seattle Public Library is delighted to announce that it is now offering free, one-on-one virtual tutoring for Seattle youth in grades K through 12 through Tutor.com.
Starting on Thursday, Oct. 15, Seattle students can connect through the Library’s platform at spl.org/VirtualTutoring to get instant access to Tutor.com’s 3,000 highly vetted expert tutors, who can help youth with schoolwork, tutoring and academic coaching in a variety of subjects in a safe and secure online classroom. One-on-one help is available in math, writing, science, history, foreign languages, college essay writing, Advanced Placement (AP) courses and more.
“This service can give Seattle children and teens who might be struggling with remote schooling the individualized attention they need to learn and excel,” said Ayan Adem, K-5 Student Success program manager at the Library. “We are especially excited to level the playing field for youth who might need extra support, such as English language learners.”
HOW TO ACCESS VIRTUAL TUTORING THROUGH THE LIBRARY
To access virtual tutoring through The Seattle Public Library, go to spl.org/VirtualTutoring and log in with your Library card or Library Link number and
PIN to request a tutor. Any student enrolled in Seattle Public Schools can log in with their student ID number through Library Link; go to spl.org/LibraryLink to find out how.
You can connect to virtual tutors seven days a week from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. in English and Spanish and from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Vietnamese. Many resources are available 24/7.
Tutor.com’s online, on-demand academic help includes:
- Academic tutoring: Students of all ages can get help with schoolwork, college essays, skills and concepts from classes and AP test preparation. Subjects include math, science, writing, English, foreign languages, social studies, ACT/SAT, practice tests for the GED, HiSET and ASVAB exams, as well as for select graduate school exams. Microsoft Office tutoring is also available.
- Writing help: Students can submit essays, book reports and even their college or scholarship application essays for live, on-demand writing help, or for review through Tutor.com’s Drop-Off Writing Review service.
- Practice quizzes: Students preparing for an end-of-chapter test, final exam or standardized test can use Tutor.com’s practice quizzes to assess their knowledge on over 100 areas.
- Video lessons: Students can access video lessons 24/7 for AP courses, as well as subject-area lessons for math and English to review or learn new concepts.
- Job seekers: Job seekers can also get one-on-one help with resumes and job applications.
