The Seattle Public Library invites children, teens and adults to learn about and celebrate Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) by taking a StoryWalk® around the South Park Branch building and making a Day of the Dead skull with art supplies you have at home. This year our celebration is a little different, but the festivities start on Oct. 25!

Enjoy a bilingual StoryWalk® about the Day of the Dead at South Park Library! Families are invited to read "The Day of the Dead/El Día de los Muertos" by Bob Barner by walking around the branch and viewing the pages in the windows. The colorful illustrations and rhyming text are perfect for celebrating this special holiday that honors our loved ones. Draw a Day of the Dead skull / Dibuja una calavera del Día de Muertos - Sunday, Oct. 25 through Sunday, Nov. 8 at Seattle Public Library Kids' YouTube channel.

Learn how to draw and decorate a Day of the Dead skull with art supplies you have at home. Teaching artist Amaranta Sandys will guide you through the steps while explaining the significance of Day of the Dead. This bilingual tutorial will be available on the Seattle Public Library Kids channel on YouTube from Sunday, Oct. 25 through Sunday, Nov. 8. For youth and families ages 6 and up.

Aprenda a dibujar y decorar una calavera del Día de Muertos con los materiales de arte que tiene en casa. La artista Amaranta Sandys lo guiará con los pasos a seguir mientras explica el significado del Día de Muertos. Este tutorial bilingüe estará disponible en el canal para niños de la Biblioteca Pública de Seattle en YouTube del 25 de octubre hasta el 8 de noviembre. On Oct. 6, Gov. Jay Inslee announced that public libraries may allow some indoor service at 25 percent capacity in Phase 2 of his Safe Start reopening plan. The Seattle Public Library is assessing the new reopening requirements with current planning efforts to expand services. The safety of our patrons and staff is our top priority.
