'Design Lecture Series' 2018-19 Kicks Off With Bonnie Siegler at The Seattle Public Library Sept. 21

New York-based graphic designer Bonnie Siegler will share her world-class design knowledge from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21 at the Central Library, 1000 Fourth Ave., Level 1, Microsoft Auditorium, 206-386-4636. The lecture will be followed by a conversation and book signing.
Library events are free and open to the public. Registration is recommended; tickets will be available at noon on Thursday, Aug. 23.
Siegler, voted one of the fifty most influential designers working today by Graphic Design USA, founded and runs the award-winning design studio Eight and a Half. She is best known for her design work for Saturday Night Live, the Criterion Collection, HBO, Late Night with Seth Meyers, StoryCorps, Participant Media and Newsweek. She has taught at the graduate level for many years at the School of Visual Arts and Yale University, conducted workshops at the Maryland Institute College of Art and Rhode Island School of Design, and judged design competitions all over the place. She is the author of "Signs of Resistance: A Visual History of Protest in America" and of "Dear Client, This Book Will Teach You How to Get What You Want from Creative People."
The Design Lecture Series is part of local design firm Civilization’s free, ongoing series of talks with highly-regarded visual and graphic designers. The series provides an opportunity to bring industry professionals together for a lecture, Q&A and networking. The next Design Lecture event features Eddie Opara at the Central Library on Friday, Nov. 2.
