The Seattle Public Library is making changes to its Curbside Pickup Service at two locations.

Starting Tuesday, Feb. 2, the Beacon Hill Branch will expand its daily schedule for Curbside Pickup Service from three days a week to five days a week, Tuesdays through Saturdays from noon to 6 p.m. The book drop at the branch is open seven days a week for material returns.

Starting Jan. 29, the Rainier Beach Branch will revert to a three-day-a-week schedule (Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday, from noon to 6 p.m.) for Curbside service to allow time for physical improvements to the branch; Curbside service at the branch is suspended until that date. The book drop at the branch remains open seven days a week for material returns.

The Seattle Public Library offers Curbside service at 13 locations, and patrons can return materials at 18 locations throughout the city of Seattle. Other recent service changes include:

  • Two new Curbside Pickup Service locations: Patrons of Magnolia and Northgate branches can now pick up holds at those locations three days a week. Book drops at these locations are open for returns.
  • Additional Curbside days at five locations: Five Library locations have expanded Curbside Pickup Service to five days a week: Ballard, Broadview, Douglass-Truth, Lake City and Southwest branches.
  • Additional return locations: Five Library locations have added return service: the Magnolia, Northgate, Queen Anne, South Park and West Seattle branches.
  • Free Curbside printing: The Library’s free Curbside printing service is available at nine locations. Patrons can order up to 10 black-and-white pages a day. Find locations, hours and a how-to at spl.org/Print.
  • Increased holds limit: The maximum number of holds patrons can place on physical materials has increased from 25 items to 50 items.

See www.spl.org/Hours for a full list of services at each location. Curbside Pickup Service locations offer additional services, including a selection of Peak Picks (there are new titles for January!) that patrons can browse and add to their checkouts, Grab & Go bundles of books sorted by genre, and free child-sized and adult disposable masks available for patron use.

In order to minimize the spread of COVID-19, patrons should wear face coverings and maintain six feet of separation from other patrons and staff. The Library will continue to follow best practices for the health and safety of our patrons and staff, including social distancing, regular cleaning and sanitation, wearing personal protective equipment, requiring the use of face masks, plexiglass barriers and quarantining of Library materials.
