Author Readings Presented by The Seattle Public Library in December

The Seattle Public Library will feature writers and their work at several locations throughout Seattle in December.
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
Seattle at 150 – 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednescday, Dec. 4 at the Central Library, 1000 Fourth Ave., Level 4, Washington Mutual Foundation Meeting Room 1, 206-386-4636. Join us for a panel discussion with HistoryLink historians and city archivists about the stories they found in the Seattle Municipal Archives and what they tell us about the life of the city. The new book "Seattle at 150: Stories of the City through 150 Objects from the Seattle Municipal Archives" illustrates over a century and a half of the city's history through images and stories told through 150 objects and photographs from the Seattle Municipal Archives. Each item provides insight into the city's history and the people and events that have shaped it.
Laureen Nussbaum - 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8 at the Wallingford Branch, 1501 N. 45th St., 206-684-4088. Nussbaum will talk about her personal experiences during World War II. Her family was saved by Hans Calmeyer, who was able to save over 3700 Jews from deportation. In her book "Shedding Our Stars: The Story of Hans Calmeyer and How He Saved Thousands of Families Like Mine," Nussbaum tells Calmeyer’s story and what drove him to save so many.
Terry Tempest Williams - 7 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10 at the Central Library, 1000 Fourth Ave., Level 1, Microsoft Auditorium, 206-386-4636. Join us to hear Williams discuss "Erosion: Essays of Undoing," which explores the concept of erosion: of the land, of the self, of belief, of fear, as she wrangles with the paradox of desert lands and the truth of erosion.
