Attend author events, book discussions and community dialogues, expert conversations and literary programs from the comfort of your own living room this summer. The Seattle Public Library has a wide variety of online readings and discussions coming up in July, on topics from the first Asian American folk album to daily yoga to Black brilliance and joy.

  • 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 8 - Jessamyn Stanley and Nicole Tsong Discuss "Yoke." Join us for a conversation that will explore the meaning of yoga and how lessons from the mat can shape our daily lives.
  • 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 8 - Exploring Black Brilliance and Black Joy through Storytelling and Writing: Food & Celebration. Join us for the first in a four-part intergenerational Summer of Learning series that celebrates Black joy and brilliance with local authors from the African-American Writers’ Alliance, storytellers, youth and elders from Seattle’s Black community. Listen to stories and explore fun writing prompts that can help you explore, create and share your own stories.
  • 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 8 - It's About Time Writers' Reading Series. The Ballard Branch welcomes the 380th meeting of the It's About Time Writers' Reading Series, featuring author readings and open mics. This month’s online presentation welcomes local group Seven Writers NW.
  • 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 11 - Writers Read. Join us for a monthly reading series featuring an open mic and selected author readings from local writers.
  • 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 15 - Grow[ing] Up: A Literary Series About Growing Pains. Join us for the final event in a five-part series, curated by local writer D.A. Navoti, which examines the highs and lows of growing up.
  • 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 22 - Exploring Black Brilliance and Black Joy through Storytelling and Writing: Nature & the Outdoors.
